![]() ![]() It isn't as cool to pick a level off a selection screen as it would be to roam from place to place, but it does mean you can experience a greater number of distinctive areas back-to-back. Wo Long has no open world, instead breaking itself up with a central hub (where you'll apply upgrades and get some side quests) and distinct missions though there's certainly still a whole lot of game here. Just don't go in expecting the vastness of Elden Ring. Mastering combat is only part of the battle-you'll also need to become an avid explorer. You'll still find special weapons with their own movesets and martial arts special attacks, offering you plenty of unique options, but there's a lot of minutia to pore over, which can become tedious when you're comparing +10 Health with 4.8% Defence. I found it impossible to not long for Elden Ring's more bespoke item placement while organising my inventory to clear out two dozen Han Officer Trousers. If it falters in its design, it's in Team Ninja's commitment to doling out heaps of randomly generated loot. Exhilarating feels inadequate as a description. The time between encountering a seemingly unbeatable foe to absolutely kicking their ass is the shortest loop of its kind I've played. It might honestly be the peak of the action RPG arc. Stuff like this meant I never felt hopeless in Wo Long. These summons are an ace up your sleeve to claw back a victory from the jaws of defeat. The spirit summons are a special ability you can call upon after filling a meter that lets you bring in a powerful entity to back you up with serious buffs. Spells aren’t something you build around, you use them to compliment your moves by adding lightning to a blade or planting a circle that slows enemies. ![]() Spells are all tied to each of the game’s five stats (each representing one of the five phases of Wuxing philosophy) and embody related elements (fire, water, etc) but you’re not a wizard. And I seem OP enough already anyway. As if that wasn’t enough of an arsenal, you have spells and the ability to summon spirits to aid you. Was gonna go for more of those but just can never get a drop of scroll with the right bonuses. Of which I had acquired only "Ultimate Stamina" so far. Doesn't seem like any of the remaining stats would give much use, past trying to combine multiple "Ultimate" bonuses. I have both at 90 now, still around 80 levels left to max and I'm already not sure which stat to increase, with both Stamina and Constitution at 200. So if anyone is wondering whether it's a waste of points to invest in both Omnyo and Ninjutsu just to use them for support - it isn't. Talisman duration was also decent enough with Omnyo power slightly above 500 and that mystic art that extends duration. And they are also very quick to apply elemental status effects. As long as you have one of each element and use correct ones per enemy type when they are out of Ki you can still deal good damage. I just hope using a weapon that is shining in pink color won't turn me into a faggot.Īlso I liked that having barely over 500 in Ninjutsu power still made feathers useful on highest difficulty. Damage increase while weapon is "awakened" is certainly noticeable. I actually thought because I was so used to enemies being constantly slowed I would have trouble ditching it but nope, not much trouble at all. Before that I was using mostly Lightning weapons because I liked the slow effect on enemies. I switched to Corrupted late game because I switched to Brute guardian spirit that had the most attunement slots, and it happened to give bonuses to Corrupted style. ![]()
